Trip to Rockland Bird Refugee

Today for P-Day we visited the Rockland Bird Refugee in Anchovy, which is just a short distance from MoBay. The senior couples and zone leaders from Ochi joined us. One of the senior couples, the Russels, daughter and grandson are here visiting and they also went with us. Here is a picture of our little group.



When you first arrive they give you a little bottle of sugar water and have you take a seat. Then they have you hold your finger out a little ways from the bottle so the birds can perch on it. They start calling here birdie, birdie, and the humming birds come and drink the sugar water. Sometimes it takes a while but you just have to be patient. They also sprinkle seed on your pant leg and little finches will come and eat the seed.





These little humming birds have really long tails and a long red beak. They are called Red Billed Streamer Tail and and it is the Jamaica national bird.

The vegetation and flowers were just beautiful. I have posted a few pictures below.







Last week we had Sacrament services again at the fishing village. It was very successful. We had 17 people in attendance. On the way home President Lee asked Elder Sorensen to stop with him and give an older gentlemen a blessing who is a friend of his. His home was located in one of the most beautiful spots I have seen while here in Jamaica. I had to take a few pictures. He has a great view of Montego Bay.
