On Saturday, the 2nd of July, Elder Sorensen and I had the privilege of helping with a wheelchair training program. There were participants in the training program that came on Thursday to learn how to fit patients properly to a wheelchair. Then on Saturday the recipients came to be fitted and receive a wheelchair. The wheelchairs were donated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was very interesting to see all the considerations that are taken into fitting someone for a wheelchair, but most of all it was wonderful to see the happiness it brought into the lives of those that received them. I have taken pictures of a few of the patients that received wheelchairs. Some of the recipients were very old and some were younger and born with birth defects. One young man was paralyzed from gun shot wounds, from the waist down.
Elder and Sister Schaefermeyer are the Humanitarian Missionaries serving here in Jamaica and they do a fantastic job. Our church does so much for these struggling third world countries.

Baptisims
This past Sunday we had three investigators baptised and confirmed members of our branch. It was also branch conference and President & Sister Hendricks came and stayed with us on Saturday night.
In this picture we have: President Hendricks, Amelia, Paul, Elder Conder, Elder Sorensen, and Nordia.
Below is a picture of Amelia, myself, and her little girl. It was about a month ago, when Fred and I were at the post office, that we met Amelia. This little girl came over where I was in line and I was telling her how cute she looked and what a pretty dress she had on. Then here came her mother checking up on her to make sure everything was alright. I told her what a cute little girl she had and we started visiting. She noticed my missionary name tag and asked about it. Elder Sorensen had a Restoration pamphlet and gave to her and we told her a little bit about our church and invited her to come to church on Sunday. She then started to tell us how she had been praying to find a church to go to and put Christ into her life. She felt her prayers had been answered. She had gone to a few other denominations but just didn't receive the feeling she was looking for. After that day at the post office, she never missed a Sunday, received the missionary lessons, and was baptised. She wanted Elder Sorensen to baptise her. We feel like Amelia is our girl. She is a single mom and her little girl is 6 years old and loves everyone. This is really what it is all about.
