Catching Up

I can't believe it has been a whole month since I updated my blog. Shame on me. Lets see where shall I start. On the 5th & 6th of August we attended YSA (Young Single Adults) Conference in Run Away Bay. It was a great experience. There were 140 young single adults aging from 18 t0 31, all the senior missionary couples, and President and Sister Hendricks at the two day conference. The senior couples were asked to help register, hand out tee-shirts, and help any other way that was needed. Besides a lot lot of good workshops their were games and different social activities. I think the mission was trying to spark interest in these young adults to find companions are friends in their own faith. The new patriarch serving here in the Jamaica mission gave a workshop on being a patriarch and how he receives revelation from the Lord when he gives each and every blessing. His name is Elder Smith. He and Sister Smith will be serving here for two years. This is such a blessing for the members of the church to have a patriarch serve here. On Saturday afternoon there was a two and a half hour testimonial bearing meeting. What a spiritual experience. Here are a few pictures I took at the conference.








This is Sister Meadows and her fiance. Sister Meadows is a return missionary. In December before we came to serve here she was returning from serving in the states and upon landing in Kingston the plane she was on crashed. Through her faith and prayers and leadership skills she was able to help get everyone off the plane and keep them calm. She herself was covered with jet fuel and didn't even realize it. There is an article in one of the Ensigns that tell about it.

On the thirteenth of August the primary celebrated their anniversary. The children had a great time. They all love to get in the back of our truck so I took a picture of them. Sister Grant is the Primary President and does a great job.





Saturday the 20th of August the Relief Society had a retreat at Cornwall Beach here in MoBay. When any of the organizations have different functions everyone is invited. So as you can see their are all ages and genders at the beach retreat. It was a wonderful day. I took an oatmeal cake and everyone, that got any, just loved it. I have several requests to bring it again.

Last Tuesday we drove to Ochi to have a zone conference with all the sisters and elders serving in our zone. President and Sister Hendricks were there along with a very special guest, Elder Vinas, the area president, and sister Vinas. Elder Vinas is a Seventy. After the Conference we went out to lunch at the Ruins. The atmosphere and the company were a lot better than the food.
