On Sunday, the 11th of September, there was a baptism at our branch for Ramorio Smith. He is a fine young man. He is 17 years old and has a great desire to continue to grow in the church and serve a mission. As Elder Trumpet says, "He is solid as a rock". On Monday, the 12th of September, we took our elders here in MoBay over to Negril to spend P-Day
with some of the other elders from the northwest coast of Jamaica. They played basketball and then we all went out for lunch at a place called Kuyaba's. They had a great time and of course we didn't mind it too much either.
Last year on the 15th of September Elder Sorensen, the sister missionaries, and I celebrated Brother James 100th birthday, but I guess it was one year too early. So on the 15th of September we had a great celebration out at Brother Jame's fishing village for his 100th birthday. Brother James killed his best ram goat. He had it prepared into curry goat. Curried goat is not my favorite but seems to be something they have at very special occasions.
Several people wanted Brother James to go out in his boat. Here are a couple of pictures of him launching and paddling his boat. It is just amazing how he still gets around. Elder Sorensen made the comment that he didn't think he, himself, could stand up in that boat and paddle it.
Last Friday the Whiteheads came over from Kingston and stayed with us. They are from Clifton, Idaho and will be serving as the humanitarian missionaries here in Jamaica. It was great having them. We are the only senior couple serving on the north side of the island so it is always nice to have a couple come and stay.
